With a population of some 235 million, Indonesia exported US$13.4 billion worth of merchandise to the United States in 2006, up 11.2% from 2005 and up 39% in 4 years.
Indonesian imports from the U.S. rose 0.8% to $3.1 billion in 2006, up 20.4% since 2002.
In terms of the merchandise flow between the two countries, America’s trade deficit with Indonesia was $10.3 billion in 2006, up 31.4% from 2002. The U.S. trade deficit with Indonesia increased 15.2% in 2006 – up from the 10.1% deficit increase in 2005 from the year earlier.
